‘Strike is illegal’: Mogalakwena calls on police to take action
The Mogalakwena Municipality has appealed to the police to take action against any person or civic organisation planning the shutdown in town scheduled for Wednesday, 14 August.
MOKOPANE – The municipality said in a media statement that no formal application was brought for a protest, and that it cannot tolerate any further disruptions in terms of service delivery.

“The municipality is in talks with law enforcement agencies to deal harshly with anyone who will forcefully instruct shop owners to close businesses and prevent learners from attending school,” Malesela Selokela, Head of Communications, stated.
He said the municipality discourages the planned shutdown, march or any form of violence.

Residents who wish to visit the municipality to receive services are welcome. More resources will in all likelihood be deployed should the protest persist, the statement reads.
