LIMPOPO – A 52-year-old suspect, who according to police conspired with a 24-year-old man to smuggle R1,75 million into Botswana last week, is expected to appear in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court today, 12 August, following his arrest by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit.

On 7 August, a 24-year-old man was arrested by police at the Stockpoort Border Post, as he was intending to cross the border into Botswana.
Hawks Spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke says their investigation linked the second suspect to the first when he had paid the first suspect a visit at the holding cells.
Maluleke says the first suspect remains in custody and is expected to make a second appearance at the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on 15 August 2019, for a formal bail application.
