The continuation of Operation Swara Tsotsi across the province keeps on producing good results with the arrest of 164 suspects in the Thohoyandou area on the weekend.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the high-density operation was joined by Transport and Community Safety MEC Dickson Masemola and was operational in and around Thohoyandou. Masemola was accompanied by the Cluster Commander of Thohoyandou Rosina Mulaudzi, Polokwane Cluster Commander Lediga Mashilo and Giyani Cluster Commander Mbazima Ngobeni.
Operation Swara Tsotsi was first launched in Polokwane on 28 June and is characterised by roadblocks, stop and searches, visiting of businesses including liquor outlets and tracing of wanted suspects.

The suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from assault, contempt of court, drunken driving, contravention of the Migration Act to contravention of the Road Traffic Act. All suspects were expected to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court earlier this week.
Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba who joined the debriefing session of the operation, appreciated the work done by members and asserted that these operations must be sustained.
