One person killed during collision on the N1

The N1 between Modimolle and Mookgophong was temporarily closed for the scene to be cleared but it is now open.

 

POLOKWANE – A 36-year-old man was killed and another seriously injured during a collision on the N1 between Modimolle and Mookgopong this morning, 27 July.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, said the road had temporarily been closed in both lanes, whilst forensic pathologists and accident management officers cleaned the scene.

The road is now open.

Moremi-Taueatsoala says a light delivery vehicle collided side on with a heavy motor vehicle, who fled the scene with no registration plates

He added that a possible cause for the accident was fatigue.
