#OperationSwaraTsotsi – 157 people arrested in Thohoyandou

Roadblocks, stop and searches, amplified police visibility and confiscations were the order of the day as the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Namane Masemola, led 'Operation Swara Tsotsi' in Thohoyandou this morning.

LIMPOPO – Addressing members on parade at Thavhani Mall earlier this morning, 26 July, MEC Masemola said Operation Swara Tsotsi is an important initiative aimed at enabling police to reclaim ownership of the streets and all social spaces in the province, adding that criminals are bossing the streets and that it must come to an end.

The operation is being rolled out in all districts of Limpopo following its launch last month.

“As part of Thuma Mina and a New Dawn, we are prepared to defend the freedom which was fought so hard for and no criminal will run riot in our society. We cannot hand over our democracy to criminals, we are going to free our people from all kind of fears that they are living with”, MEC Masemola said.
