An operation focussing on drug-related crimes in the Polokwane and Tzaneen Police clusters resulted in the arrest of two suspects found in possession of illegal substances on the weekend.
According to Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe the suspects were expected to appear in the Tzaneen and Polokwane magistrate’s courts earlier this week.
He elaborated on the arrest in Polokwane by saying that 43-year-old Nigerian national who is suspected of dealing in drugs was arrested in one of the city’s suburbs for being in possession 210 sachets of nyaope.
In Tzaneen Police clamped down on a 29-year-old suspect just outside the town and Police confiscated 16 packets of crystal meth, nine packets of cat, 20 packets of nyaope, 16 packets of rock and eight packets of dagga. Cash amounting to R6 900 was also seized.
Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba commended the Police members for their endless fight against the scourge of drugs in the province. The Police will continue working closely with communities in this war, according to Ledwaba.
