Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says three suspects stormed a local supermarket in the Manapsane village on 2 July, armed with weapons. The suspects locked the doors and collected money from the cash registers. They then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, driving a sky blue Ford Fiesta ST with unknown registration plates.

During the second robbery at the same store, two days later on 4 July, three other men entered the supermarket pretending to be customers. One suspect escorted a security guard to the manager’s office, while the other two suspects ordered customers and staff to lay down while aiming their firearms.

Ngoepe adds that the suspects then collected money from the cash registers and instructed the manager to open the safe.

“While attempting to open the safe, smoke came out and the suspects panicked and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, driving in a silver-grey Polo TSI sedan without registration plates.”
