Massive cold front unlikely to affect Polokwane

Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid to low twenties for the rest of the week and the weekend.

POLOKWANE – As two massive cold fronts made landfall in the Western Cape this morning, bringing heavy rainfall, snow and temperatures in the teens, Polokwane remains a stark contrast with clear skies and mild temperatures.

According to the South African Weather Service’s forecast, temperatures in Polokwane are expected to remain in the mid to low twenties for the rest of the week and over the weekend.

Wednesday and Friday will be the warmest days of the week at 24 degrees, while Thursday and Saturday will be the ‘coolest’ at 21 degrees.

Sunny conditions will remain for the rest of the week and minimum temperatures will peak at just four degrees.

People’s Weather’s forecast also suggests that temperatures will remain in the mid to low twenties with Saturday cooling down to 20 degrees.

People’s Weather has also forecast cloud cover for Saturday.

Storm Report SA says the cyclone system will move out into the Indian Ocean tomorrow (Wednesday) and will be replaced with a strong High-pressure ridge causing the fronts to collapse. This, they say will result in strong overnight frost in the eastern interior (including south Gauteng) on Wednesday to Thursday.
