Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba ordered the launch of a massive manhunt for three suspects believed to be responsible for the shooting and killing of a 29-year-old businessman at a spaza shop in Legolaneng village, Hlogotlou on Friday evening.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said the deceased’s identity wll only be released once his family has been informed about his death.
He indicated that three suspects allegedly stormed into the spaza shop at around 22:00 and attacked the victim. After he was shot and killed the suspects reportedly doused his body with an unknown flammable substance and set it alight, according to Ngoepe.
He added that the shop was thereafter ransacked before the suspects fled the scene.
After the incident Ledwaba instructed the Groblersdal Cluster Commander to activate a multi-disciplinary task team to trace the suspects involved in the incident. At the time of going to press no arrests had been made.
