An 18-year-old male accused of allegedly raping two young girls at Moutse outside Dennilton in May was expected to appear in the Moutse Magistrate’s Court again yesterday (Wednesday).
According to Maphure Manamela of the Provincial Police Communications Centre the suspect also appeared in the same court on Monday and was remanded for further Police investigations.
The arrest follows an incident that reportedly occurred on 16 May at about 19:00 when the suspect allegedly met the two victims, aged 12 and 13 years, lured them to an RDP house and locked them inside.
It is reported that he bought them food before starting to rape them. One of the victims managed to escape and went to inform her parents about their ordeal, Manamela explained.
The following day the girl’s parents, accompanied by a group of community members, made their way to the suspect’s house where they allegedly caught him in the act of raping the other girl.
Manamela indicated that the suspect then ran away with community members giving chase until he was captured and handed to the Dennilton Police.
