Seshego police Constable’s car recovered after being hijacked on his way home

Four armed men approached the off-duty Constable, demanding his car keys before forcing him out of the vehicle, firing a shot and fleeing the scene.

POLOKWANE – A manhunt has been launched by the Seshego Police in search of four armed suspects after the hijacking of an off-duty Constable attached to the Seshego Police Station on Tuesday, 2 July.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe reports that prompt reaction by the police led to the recovery of the vehicle near a farm in Botlokwa a few hours later.

He explained that the Constable had knocked off and was travelling from Seshego to Mabokelele near Moletjie in his VW Polo when he stopped at a friend’s house.

He was then approached by four armed men in an Audi who demanded his car keys. The suspects then forced him out of the vehicle and one of the suspects fired a shot to the ground. They then fled the scene in the Constable’s vehicle. They also took two cell phones, his driver’s licence, wallet and cash.

Ngoepe added that a case of carjacking was opened, anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects should contact Capt Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501 or the crime stop number at 08600 10111.
