Toys for Boys owners zoom off to top motorshow

Owners of Toys For Boys say they were lucky to be invited to the Gas Motorshow that was held at Cornubia Mall in KwaZulu-Natal from 15 to 17 June.

MOKOPANE – Boys and their cars don’t have an expiry date, but this lifestyle doesn’t come cheap either.

Bosveld asked Flippie Pretorius (25) and Thinus Zwanepoel (50) that had the honour of being invited to the Race SA Gas Motorshow by Nazeer Loonat what it was like at the show.

Pretorius and Zwanepoel, owners of Toys For Boys and agents for Dicktator Management, said they were lucky to be invited to the Gas Motorshow that was held at Cornubia Mall in KwaZulu-Natal from 15 to 17 June.

“The exhibition area stretched over 5 000 m² where the South African Lifestyle and Motoring culture was celebrated. The South African Megashow exhibited over 100 elements which included Drifting, Spinning, Enduro X, Karting, Street Food Festival, Live Music, Gaming Tournaments and a kids’ play area,” Thinus said.

There were over 2 000 cars on display. “There were various types like Hotrods, Dragsters, Custom Choppers, Stance and Custom builds. If we had to ask R1 for each photo we took, we would have come back with R100 000. We took a lot of photos.”

Flippie said that it was an amazing experience and to meet people like Murder Nova, Farmtruck and AZN from the hit TV series Street Outlaws was really special.

Flippie told us Toys for Boys built his car seven years ago. “Thanks to Mo from Turbo and Nos and Arno from Dictator we were able to import the car parts from the US.”

He continues by saying that the love he has for cars is something that he can’t describe. “It’s my first love, she’s on my name.”

He also said that he works on cars from the moment he opens his eyes in the mornings until he closes them again at night.

“I can’t really say when I started working on cars as far as I remember it was all I did.”

Flippie matriculated at Hoërskool Piet Potgieter in 2012.

“I’d rather have a car addiction than have a drug addiction. The time is now to move forward to better and bigger things.

“We don’t have to hide from the big names in town anymore, we were the ones that were invited to the Race SA Gas Motorshow.”
