Jerry Bradshaw offering dog training seminar in August

Learn to improve your dog's drive, focus, accuracy and speed on searches," says Jenny Venter, organiser of the seminar.

POLOKWANE – Dog lovers can look forward to a two-day seminar presented by Jerry Bradshaw from the United States of America.

Some of us use our pooches only for companionship at home, whilst others use them to hunt or for security purposes.

Jerry is the training director and President of Tarheel Canine Training Inc. in North Carolina and has been training dogs for competitive protection sports since 1991. He has competed in the National Championship trials in both Schutzhund and PSA, winning the PSA National championships in 2003.

The tactical seminar takes place on Thursday, 8 August and discusses topics such as how to build a drive to hunt and focus, teaching strong and reliable alerts and improving speed, accuracy and reliability of a hunt. There are limited spaces available and cost are R1 500 for a handler and a dog and R1 000 for a spectator.

“A crucial skill for any security and patrol dog is the effective searching and creating of an area or building. From a strong start on command and building the dog’s desire to hunt for a man, to clear and decisive alert and indication. Learn to improve your dog’s drive, focus, accuracy and speed on searches,” says Jenny Venter, organiser of the seminar.

Jenny Venter is the organiser of the event.

On Friday, 9 August, the PSA obedience and protection seminar takes place. This seminar will be a problem-solving seminar, where Jerry can assist you with any problems that you may currently experience. Costs for this seminar are R900 for a dog and handler and R700 for a spectator.

“It is not only for PSA trainers. Anyone interested in learning methods and techniques on how to improve their training will benefit from this,” says Jenny.
