LIMPOPO – Limpopo police have assembled a multi-disciplinary task team to follow the tracks of armed suspects who robbed traffic officers who were on duty in the Marble Hall policing area, outside Groblersdal on Friday afternoon, 21 June.
Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe reported that two traffic police officers were on duty along the Slaagboom public road, near Marble Hall, conducting speed trap duties.

“In the process, they stopped a grey VW Polo TSI without number plates, with five occupants, for exceeding the speed limit. While they were issuing the driver with a written notice, three passengers got out, two of them armed with rifles and the other with a pistol. They robbed both the officers’ cellphones, one firearm and the speed camera before they fled the scene,” Ngoepe’s statement read.
No arrests have been made as yet and police are urging anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501; the crime stop number 0860010111 or the nearest police station.
Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers , says he is saddened by the incident, but warned all criminals involved in this matter that police are going to hunt them down around the clock until they are taken to were they belong.
