Help Limpopo police locate three N1 accident victim’s families

Efforts to locate the three deceased's families were fruitless and police believe they might have been Zimbabwean nationals.

MOKOPANE – Police in Mokopane are appealing to the community to assist in locating the families of the three unknown people who lost their lives during a motor vehicle accident on Monday, 22 April 2019.

According to a statement released by Constable Mienkie Ramakgoakgoa, the accident occurred in on the N1 in the Mokopane policing area and a case of culpable homicide was opened.

A BMW sedan, which was travelling with six occupants in a southerly direction, lost control and collided with a truck travelling North. The truck driver was alone. Initial reports suggested a bus was involved, however, it was a truck.

“During the accident, three people (two men and one woman) died on the scene and the other two occupants were critically injured. They were taken to the nearest hospitals in Mokopane and Polokwane to receive medical attention. The truck driver was not injured,” Ramakgoakgoa said.

She added that efforts to locate the three deceased’s families were fruitless and police believe they might have been Zimbabwean nationals. The cause of the accident is still being investigated by police.

“Anyone with information that may assist police in locating their families for identification should contact Detective Sergeant Moshe Maubane at 076 037 8145 or the Mokopane Police Station at 015 409 1400,” Ramakgoakgoa’s statement concluded.
