The Grade 12 learners from Madithakadu, Moropa and Maswai-a-Kgomo High Schools in Madishaditoro village in the Zebediela area could not write their May and June examination as a result of reported strike action.
Spokesperson for the Department of Education, Sam Makondo said 34 000 learners in the province wrote their examination papers except those from the three affected schools. “The exams went well and all learners affected by the strike action will be given an opportunity to register for the October and November examinations,” he said.
It is reported that the community had embarked on a shutdown between April and May demanding the tarring of road D4036. The action reportedly prompted the school governing bodies to close the nearest schools in the area for the sake of the safety of the learners.
