[UPDATE] Security guards arrested for murder, attempted murder appear in court

Three of the seven suspects were not linked to the incident and the other four were remanded in custody until their next court appearance

LIMPOPO – Four of the seven suspects arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder appeared before the Senwabarwana Magistrate Court outside Polokwane on Tuesday, 18 June.

All four of the suspects were denied bail and their cases were postponed to 21 June for bail application and for further investigation, reads a statement issued by Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe.

“The last three suspects were not linked to the incident and were released,” he adds.

The suspects, a 26-year-old from Durban, a 43-year-old from Mohodi village and two men from Polokwane (aged 45 and 30), were arrested on 17 June following an incident where Masilu Mothemela (24) was shot and killed and his friend was shot and wounded.

In an earlier statement Ngoepe explained that earlier the day the accused had received a report that one of their own was shot, killed and robbed by a certain identified suspect. Without reporting the matter to the Police, they traced the alleegd suspected until they located him and a friend at a house at Mohodi Manthata village outside Mogwadi. It is alleged the suspect was interrogated and thereafter shot and killed. His friend was also shot and injured before the accused fled the scene.

The police were summoned and a manhunt was launched until the seven suspects were arrested on the same day.
