“It is alleged that these security officers received a report that one of their own was shot, killed and robbed at Senwabarwana by a certain identified suspect. Without reporting the matter to the police, they traced this suspect to a house at Mohodi Manthata village outside Mogwadi, where they interrogated him about the said incident,” Ngoepe explained in the statement.

During the incident the man which they accused of the murder was shot in the chest and died instantly. A friend of the deceased, was also shot and injured, Ngoepe added.

The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Masilu Mothemela.

The police were summoned and an initial manhunt was launched until the seven suspects were arrested. “During the arrests four pistols and three rifles were also confiscated from the officers.”

These suspects will appear before the Senwabarwana Magistrate Court under the Seshego Cluster outside Polokwane today on charges of murder and attempted murder.
