POLOKWANE – June 16 marks Youth Day in South Africa. Review took to the streets of Polokwane to ask residents how they think the youth can celebrate Youth Day in a positive way that will result in positive impact and change in the community.

David Mashiane said, “The youth contribute positively towards helping to ensure that our communities became better places to live in by working hard at school and in their respective places of environment to ensure that they achieve best results. Especially those who are working in public sectors which mainly deal with rendering services for the community. They are still young and energetic and must use that as an advantage,” he said.

Nakedi Setwaba said, “The youth need to be active members of the community by helping those who are need. Maybe offer to volunteer as a policeman to help fight crime in our communities or help out at a place of safety for vulnerable children and women. This is one way that I think the youth can celebrate youth day in a positive manner that will benefit the community,” she added.

Mpho Nkoana said, “The youth can celebrate Youth Day in a positive manner by engaging with leaders from a young age to learn about leaderships skills and values so that they can be able to lead in the future,” he said.

Mahlatse Maredi said, “The youth must get educated and be informed and knowledgeable so that they can be able to sit in parliament with other older leaders to learn from them about leading and making decisions that impact communities in a positive manner. We need to keep focus on getting educated and learning from those who led before us so that we can be able to correct whatever mistakes that they may have made,” he added.
