Writing has become Nelson’s coping mechanism

POLOKWANE – Nndanduleni Nelson Nemaranzhe is an author and poet from Tshitereke Village who has four books under his belt, three of which are available on Amazon and is not showing any signs of slowing down.

His writing journey began when he wrote a short story for a woman who was special to him. He was at Unisa at the time and his friends read the story and encouraged him to rather make it a poem. “I converted that short story into a poem called ‘I am missing Ms Beautiful’ and I submitted it to the UNISA newsletter and it was published. When my friends saw it in the newsletter, they encouraged me to write another one, which I did, called ‘Is Education Educated’ which was also published,” he explained.

Writing has become a coping mechanism for him adding that when he is happy or sad, he writes a poem. In 2004, he had a collection of poems which he compiled into a poetry book called ‘Kesitah Poems’ which was published. In 2017, he published another poetry book called ‘Kesitah Anthology’. So far this year, he has published two books, one titled ‘Kesitak Quotes and Thoughts’ and ‘Dunamis Lifestyle’ which is a Christian book. He has also written songs for an artist called Dzomolavenda and a group called Jessy Angello.

Nelson added that writing is not easy but whenever the inspiration hits him, he writes. “Whenever I get inspired, I write and once in a long while, I check the progress and find that I have written many poems, enough to compile a book. The process is not easy, I will edit every poem and get another author who understands poetry to proofread before they are ready to be published,” he explained. When he is not writing, he devotes his time to God and has interests in swimming, fishing and just enjoying what nature has to offer.

All his books are self funded and in an effort to help other authors like himself, he has established a publishing company called Kesitah Publishers. People looking for publishers can reach him at 079 991 6593/ 084 951 1513 (WhatsApp) or email him at nemaranzhe@yahoo.com.
