Limpopo father sentenced to two life sentences after raping two daughters

The two victims, aged 13 and 16, were raped repeatedly between January 2014 and February 2016

LIMPOPO – The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed the heavy jail term handed down to a 50-year-old man for the repeated rapes of his two biological daughters.

The accused was sentenced to two life imprisonment terms by the High Court in Thohoyandou, said Polokwane spokesperson, Col Moatshe in a statement on Tuesday.

“The man had raped the two girls repeatedly from January 2014 until February 2016, in the absence of their mother and other family members.The accused would sneak into the room the girls were sharing around midnight and violated them.”

Ngoepe added that the ordeal, which lasted for three years, was only reported to the police after the youngest fell pregnant. “A case of rape was opened and subsequently, the accused was arrested.”

General Ledwaba concluded that police will ensure that each and every one involved in crimes against women and children will be sent to prison indefinite. “Violent men of this nature should not be allowed in our society.”
