POLOKWANE – The deceased, Simangele Sibanda from Zimbabwe was stabbed to death on a farm in the Swartwater area during an incident on 18 March 2018.
In a statement released, Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the Tom Burke police outside Lephalale, received a report of a woman being stabbed at one of the local farms in Swartwater. When the police arrived on the scene at around 02:00, they found the body of a 44-year-old woman. She had multiple stab wounds throughout the body,” he said.
Ngoepe explained in the statement that the accused had already fled the scene when the police arrived, but through the intensive investigations by the detectives, Mafifi was tracked down and apprehended at his home village in the Moletemane area in Botswana. He was later extradited from Botswana to South Africa to face the trial of murder.

During the ensuing court proceedings the accused revealed that he killed his girlfriend because she terminated the pregnancy of their baby without his consent.
