Four people killed in head-on collision on the R71, Deerpark Road

According to the department of transport, the cause of the accident is due to reckless and negligent driving

LIMPOPO – A driver, two passengers, and a child were killed in a head-on collision early on Saturday morning, 8 June, reports the Limpopo Department of Transport.

Spokesperson, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala says the accident occurred on a sharp curve on Deer Park Road on the R71 when a Toyota Sedan collided head-on with a Hyundai sedan.

The four deceased died on the spot and the cause of the accident is suspected to be reckless and negligent driving. 

“Motorists are reminded to always keep a safe following distance and overtake where it is safe to do so,” Moremi-Taueatsoala said. 

In the other news, Moremi-Taueatsoala says two drunk drivers were arrested during an operation in Giyani last night.

“The 45 and 32-year-old male drivers were arrested on the spot. Limpopo is a zero tolerance province to those who disobey the rules of the road. We urge motorists not to drink and drive,” his statement concluded.
