POLOKWANE – The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Namane Dickson Masemola is calling on motorists to obey rules and rest when they are fatigued as well as to remain cautious and vigilant, following the death of two people on Limpopo’s roads, including a police officer.

The MEC’s Media Liaison Officer, Joel Seabi says the accident occurred on the N1 near the Mookgophong off ramp on Wednesday, 5 June and that three other people also sustained injuries.
The accident occurred while travelling from Pretoria where they were attending training. The deceased lost control of the car and it overturned. he was killed and the other passengers were taken for medical treatment in Polowkane.
“Whilst a case of culpable homicide is being investigated, the MEC wishes to extend condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and will take time to visit those who are hospitalised, in offering support towards their speedy recovery,” Seabi said.
The MEC has further sent his condolences to the family of a woman who was killed on Thursday, 6 June 2019 following a head-on collision between a truck and a car. One other person sustained serious injuries.
“A clarion call is being made to all motorists to obey rules, for motorists to rest when they are fatigued and to remain cautious and vigilant on the roads to avoid accidents. Law enforcement officers are again challenged to deal decisively with law breakers in totality,” Seabi’s statement concluded.
