POLOKWANE – Injuries were sustained and emergency services on scene of an accident on Veldspaat Street this morning, 6 June.
With motorists seemingly frustrated an impatient by a backup of traffic, a witness to the accident told Review that a motorist attempted to make a u-turn on Veldspaat, not seeing an oncoming vehicle and caused a t-bone collision and the car to overturn on its roof.
“There was another vehicle that was also travelling on Veldspaat that had to swerve in order to avoid the accident and I had to think quick and move on to the gravel road to avoid causing another accident,” she said.
The accident occurred just outside the Aloes. Emergency services and traffic officials were quick to the scene to attend to those injured.
“People were just making u-turns without being aware of their surroundings and other motorists,” another witness told Review.
Despite police and Transnet employees present near the railway, the reason for their presence is unknown, although reports suggest that the cause of the backup was due to flyers being handed out.
