POLOKWANE – The prospect of unemployment made two young women take a stand and create their own jobs.

The two friends, Dineo Mashao and Maserole Matseba, are fighting against the stigma that beautiful women can’t get down and dirty and do hard labour. They started a cleaning company, Dibatso Trading, which provide cleaning services to homeowners and businesses.

They shared it has been more difficult than they anticipated, because they are learning as they go. “Cleaning is something we do at home and expected it would be difficult, but it has been much more than that. We have to be as professional as possible and need to make sure we leave no part of a house uncleaned. It has been an eye opening experience, because it’s easy to take cleaning for granted,” said Dineo.

They have had their fair share of challenges with clients, who want full service but don’t want to pay for it. “We give quotations according to the services a client wants. Sometimes we get clients that expect more than what was agreed upon, but we try to make sure they are always satisfied, by going above and beyond the call of duty,” said Maserole.

The two ladies are more than just entrepreneurs, they are also passionate about the empowerment of other women. They’re planning a women’s day event to encourage other women, to be fearless in their pursuit of fulfilling their dreams. “We are planning a women’s day event for young women, like ourselves, to interact with women who have experience in business so we can all grow from this. If all goes according to plan, we will have women leaving the event with a renewed faith in making their dreams become a reality. We will have women walk out of the event, knowing exactly what the next step in making their business a success is,” said Maserole. They hope to grow their business to such an extent, that they become household names when it comes to people’s cleaning needs.
