An 18-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Moutse Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday) in connection with the alleged rape of two girls, aged 12 and 13, in the RDP section of Dennilton last week.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the suspect was expected to apply for bail.
It is alleged that the suspect met his two victims last Thursday and lured them to a house where he then locked them in. He reportedly bought them food before proceeding to rape them both. One of the victims managed to escape and ran home to inform her parents about their ordeal. The other girl was left behind with the suspect, according to Ngoepe. The following day the victims’ parents, accompanied by a group of community members, went to the suspect’s house where they allegedly caught him in the act with the other girl. The suspect ran away but was quickly apprehended by community members who handed him over to the Dennilton Police.
