Polokwane Municipality approved its second adjustment budget for the 2018/19 financial year last Wednesday, making provision for additional income and expenditure amounting to R2 429 000.
This comes after National Treasury allocated the additional funds to the municipality after the first adjustment budget for the current financial year was approved on 27 February.
The additional funds comprise a Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant (R97 927 000),
Water Services Infrastructure Grant (R20 000 000) and a Public Transport Network Grant (R125 000 000).
The additional funds will be utilised for further expenditure on the asbestos pipe replacement projects in Seshego, Annadale and the CBD, the regional waste water treatment plant and refurbishment of the Polokwane waste water treatment works. Funds will also be used for the installation of smart meters, water services planning groundwater development as well as expenses related to the Integrated Rapid Public Transport System.
