LIMPOPO – A police sergeant attached to the Makhado police station and his two accomplices, aged 28 and 40-years-old will appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court, soon, after being arrested for stock theft and possession of suspected stolen cattle meat.

On Tuesday, 21 May, police received information from the community about suspected stolen cattle meat being off-loaded at a house in Mushenguville, a residential area on the outskirts of Musina.
“Police reacted to the tip off and found a bakkie loaded with cattle meat, parked inside the yard belonging to a police Sergeant attached to the Makhado Police Station. Preliminary police investigations revealed that the meat was from stolen stock and the three suspects were immediately arrested. The pickup van, still loaded with the meat, was also seized,” police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe explained in a statement.
Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has expressed his disappointment in the Sergeant’s involvement in criminal activities. He warned police members to desist from engaging in any criminal activity as the law will equally be applied harshly regardless of their status.
