[UPDATE] One suspect arrested in connection with Kennealy murder

The body of Annette Kennealy (51) was found lying in a pool of blood inside the house on Welgevonden farm, on Tuesday morning.

LIMPOPO – A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of local farmer and activist against farm attacks, Annette Kennealy (51).

The body of the deceased, Annette Kennealy, was found lying in a pool of blood inside the house on Welgevonden farm, on Tuesday morning. It is suspected she was  murdered during the night between 20 and 21 May.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe confirmed in a statement, that the Police in Makhado (Louis Trichardt) arrested a 40-year-old man involved in the murder of Kennealy last night (Tuesday, 21 May).

“The suspect will appear before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate Court soon,” he concluded.

LIMPOPO – In a statement released, Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the Police in Makhado (Louis Trichardt) are still looking for the suspects (s) involved in the murder of 51-year-old Annette Kennealy. The body of the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood inside the house on Welgevonden farm, on Tuesday morning. It is suspected she was  murdered during an incident which occurred during the night between 20 and 21 May, he added.

“It is alleged that the deceased was together with her employee on the said farm, when she was attacked by unknown suspect(s). After family members tried to call her without success, one member went to investigate and upon arrival found the deceased inside the house lying in a pool of blood. Her body had multiple stab wounds,” he explained.

The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage but the ongoing Police investigations will tell. It has also not yet been confirmed whether properties were stolen during the incident, said Ngoepe in the statement.

Until now the whereabouts of the deceased’s employee is unknown and police request the deceased’s employee, Kenny Ramatshimbila from Mauluma, to come to Makhado Police Station or to the nearest Police Station to assist with investigations in this matter.

The suspect(s) involved in this matter are still unknown and the police urge anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects, to contact Captain Muthuhadini Tinyani at 072 470 1444.
