LIMPOPO – A elderly woman died and the driver was slightly injured when their vehicle overturned along the R71 near Selati Lodge in the Mopani District earlier today (Tuesday, 21 May).
In a statement released, Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala says the driver reportedly drove into the bush alongside the road to avoid a head-on collision with oncoming traffic.

“It is reported that the driver of a VW Polo sedan overtook on a barrier line and when he realised there was oncoming vehicles, he drove into the bush to avoid a head-on collision. The vehicle overturned and a female passenger, aged ±83, died. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A the exact cause of the collision will form part of a police investigation, however reckless driving has not been ruled out.
