Another love in her life is her seven-year-old-son, who she says takes up all her spare time at home. “Being a good mother to my child, playing netball and fighting fire are my three great passions in life.”
Mmas has been with WOF since 2010, helping in not only fighting fires but in educating people on how they can prevent fires and fire safety, especially in rural areas. As part of staying active in her line of work, she started playing netball in 2010. “Being named as the best player means a lot. I believe that my passion for the game is what helps me excel in the sport.”
She adds that she would like to see a lot more people, especially young girls, join sport teams such as netball, to help them stay out of trouble and not become pregnant at a young age. “Netball is a team sport that helps you build friendships and stay active and healthy. Like me it can also lead to bigger things such as winning awards and becoming well known in the sport world,” she says.
As part of making sure that employees stay healthy WOF grants them the opportunities to take part in sporting events, making sure that they are in shape for their very important task at hand. Spokesperson for Limpopo working on fire Matema Gwangwa told Review that they are very proud of Masiea and her accomplishment and thanked her for being a role model.
