“It is alleged that on 16 May 2019, the suspect met the two victims and lured them to an RDP house in the area and locked them inside. He then bought them food and raped them both before one of the victims managed to escape and ran home where she informed her parents about the ordeal. The other victim was left behind with the suspect,” Ngoepe explained in a statement.

The following day, the victim’s parents, accompanied by the community, went with the victim to the said RDP house and on arrival, they found the suspect raping the other victim. The suspect ran away but the community gave chase, caught him and handed him over to the Dennilton Police.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned ongoing sexual offenses perpetrated against children, in the strongest terms, which he says are still prevalent in some parts of the province.

“Communities, especially parents, are still advised and encouraged to strengthen child safety at all times to prevent or avoid these types of incidents from occurring,” concluded General Ledwaba.
