Seven escape from custody in Modimolle

Police have launched a massive manhunt for seven awaiting trial prisoners who allegedly escaped from Police holding cells at Modimolle on Saturday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the escapees managed to get away during routine service at about 20:00. He added that ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding their breakout will soon reveal the exact detail of the incident.
The fugitives were identified as Polano Ndebele, Thapelo Mello and Themba Ncube who were arrested in connection with the contravention of the Explosives Act, Mpho Obvious Lesese, Kenneth Shumba and Kazen Dluwayo who were arrested for armed and house robbery respectively and Sello Rengane who faces a charge of rape. Anyone with information that can lead to the re-arrest of the fugitives can contact investigating officer Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or report to the nearest Police station.
