Police confiscated drugs and illegal cigarettes worth more than R2 million during separate incidents which also led to the arrest of two suspects on the weekend.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that a woman (38) was arrested at Beit Bridge border post while entering the country from Zimbabwe on Sunday. According to him the woman was travelling from Harare when her luggage was searched by Police officers on duty.

Crystal meth estimated to be worth more than R2 million that was found hidden in the luggage of a woman who crossed Beit Bridge.

They found 15 bags of crystal meth, estimated to have a street value of more than R2 million, hidden in a bag, according to Ngoepe. On the same day Police, during a routine stop and search operation, pulled over a vehicle at Roedtan. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested on the spot when Police found illegal cigarettes worth more than R80 000 hidden in the vehicle. Several cell phones and knives were also confiscated, Ngoepe reported.
The suspects in both incidents were expected to appear in respective courts earlier this week. Acting Provincial Commissioner Jan Scheepers applauded the Police for a job well done.
