Seven additional offices for traditional councils in the province are to be built at a cost of R70 million in this financial year.
Premier Stan Mathabatha, during the opening of the Provincial House of Traditional Leaders in Polokwane on Friday, reiterated the announcement made in his State of the Province Address in February. According to Mathabatha the envisaged offices will be in addition to 11 offices built for traditional councils in the province over the past five years.

Malesela Dikgale, Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders in the province.

Malesela Dikgale, Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders said the offices, once completed will create a conducive working environment for traditional leaders in their respective areas. “The offices will be handy because most traditional councils are operating from dilapidated offices. The Provincial Government is going to build state-of-the-art offices which will also cater for Home Affairs and South Africa Social Security Agency services. There will also be provision for ward councilors. This will be a huge relief for community members because they will no longer have to travel to the city for such services,”Dikgale said.
