POLOKWANE – According to the SANBS website, less than 1% of South Africans are blood donors and to ensure that there is a sufficient blood supply in the health system, 3 000 units need to be collected per day.

If you are unsure if you are allowed to donate blood, you can visit the SANBS website and take a short quiz of 10 questions. This will take you one step closer to save three lives.
You may ask “How do I save three lives by donating once?”
The answer to this is that your one unit can be donated into three components namely red blood cells, plasma and platelets.
