Police in Giyani launch separate search operations for three mentally ill men

LIMPOPO – Police in Giyani have launched three separate search operations following the disappearance of three mentally ill men.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo explains that police and family have tried locating 59-year-old, Hlayisi Reckson Rikhotso from Mageva village, but to no avail.

“It is reported that Rikhotso is mentally disabled and left home on 20 April 2019. His family and police have tried looking for him around the Mageva village and the Tshilidzini hospital but he was not found,” Mojapelo explained.

It is unknown what Rikhotso was wearing at the time of his disappearance.

In the second reported incident, Mojapelo said the public’s assistance is required in locating 33-year-old George Mabunda from Vosloorus in Gauteng.

“Mabunda, who is reportedly mentally disabled, went missing on 18 April 2019 while visiting a relative in Giyani. He was last spotted along the R81 walking from Giyani to Mooketsi,” Mojapelo explained. At the time of his disappearance, Mabunda was wearing blue jeans with a yellow t-shirt and blue sneakers.

Mojapelo says the third missing man is Mtileni Fanuel Tirhani from Makosha village, who went missing on 20 April 2019.

“It is reported that Tirhani left home without informing anyone about his destination. Numerous attempts to locate him at friends and family were not successful. He was last seen wearing grey trousers with a light grey shirt and black shoes at the time of his disappearance,” he explained.
