Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (Pemps) hosted a mini festival at the school sport fields on Saturday with the aim of familiarising toddlers with the rules of soccer and netball.
The gathering also served as a family fun day and attracted young players from Mitchell House, Bet Shalom Christian School, Elica Primary School, Pietersburg Comprehensive School and PEPPS Preparatory School. Pemps educator Carol Shilubane indicated that the sport festival was for players aged seven to nine. She said the aforementioned age groups don’t take part in schools league hence the platform was to acquaint them with the rules of the game.
Shilubane emphasised that the competition was for fun as she outlined that scores were not important. She went on to reveal that all the participants received a certificate and chocolate. “We host such gatherings once a year to get youngsters and families together. We are happy with the turnout and we would like to thank young players, parents, coaches and educators for making the day a success,” she concluded.
