Two Mokopane learners arrested in connection with murder of fellow learner

The body of a 17-year-old female learner was discovered at a dumping site in ext.14 outside Mokopane on Saturday, 13 April.

MOKOPANE – Two suspects have been arrested for the murder of a 17-year-old school girl from a local high school in Mokopane.

The two suspects, aged 17 and 18, are learners at the same high school as the victim.

In a statement released, Spokesperson for the police, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said that the body of the victim, Tebatjo Nkoana, was identified by her family.

“It is alleged she left for school on Friday, 12 April at 06:40 and never returned home after school. A passerby noticed the victim, still dressed in her school uniform, lying in the bushes at ext.14 outside Mokopane.

An intensive police  investigation lead to the arrest of the suspects. They will appear in the Mokopane Magistrate court soon.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba  had condemned these criminal tendencies involving young and school going children.

MOKOPANE – The body of a woman, between the age of 18 and 20, was discovered at ext.14 outside Mokopane on Saturday, 13 April.

Investigating officer on the scene, Warrant Officer (WO) Sasabela says the police are investigating a case of murder. “It is suspected that this crime was committed somewhere else and that the body was dumped in the bushes.”

No suspects have been arrested as yet. Investigations are still going on.
