POLOKWANE – The aim of the Smart Heckathon was to expose learners from various schools within the circuit, to modern technologies, giving them opportunity to test their aptitude at solving various challenges with the aim of improving service delivery and minimising service delivery concerns.
At the finale each school was given the task of identifying a service delivery challenge within the city, to come up with a solution and pitch their idea the MEC of Education, Ishmael Kgetjepe and the Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng.
Review spoke to the representatives of three of the competing schools; Taxila Secondary School, Chakga Secondary School and Ngwanamaseala Secondary School. They explained their solutions to the lack of purified water, elecricity and communication.
