Several multi-disciplinary intelligence-led joint operations in the Thohoyandou, Makhado, Seshego and Mahwelereng clusters resulted in the arrest of 15 suspects and the recovery of a variety of alleged stolen property on the weekend.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the suspects are aged between 24 and 51 years and are expected to appear in respective courts soon.
They were arrested on charges varying from business robbery, burglary, possession of suspected stolen properties to possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
During the operations a variety of suspected stolen items were confiscated. It includes twelve speakers, five plasma televisions, five music systems, eight music system speakers, a video player, a portable DVD player, three cell phones, four laptops, two record boxes, a computer, two firearms, 16 rounds of live ammunition, two motor vehicles as well as a variety of other accessories.
Ngoepe highlighted that a 26-year-old man was arrested for a series of house robberies and burglaries which he reportedly committed between 2017 and 2018 in Thohoyandou. The suspect may still be linked to a number of other similar cases in and around Thohoyandou, according to Ngoepe.
Acting Provincial Police Commissioner Jan Scheepers commended members of the community for supporting the Police in their endeavour to fight crime. He also congratulated Police members who participated in the operations on a job well done.
