Locals come together to clean-up ward 12

Seshego Zone 4 residents embarked on a clean-up campaign in ward 12 on Friday, in collaboration with the municipality's waste and environment section.

POLOKWANE – Ward 12 councillor, Tsepo Nkwe said they believed they were responsible for cleaning ward 12.

“All we want is to keep our environment clean. People dump things such as nappies in the streets and we want to teach them that it is not environmentally friendly. Illegal dumping is a major problem in our communities. Between Mofolo and Seshego clinic in Zone 4, people illegally dumped items and we thought that it’s better to educate the community through continuous clean-up campaigns.”

He said the next project will quarterly focus on the dumping site in Seshego Zone 3 and invite the community to join in the clean-up campaign.

“We are happy that people came out to help clean ward 12. It shows that they are concerned about the environment.

We want the children and the communities to live in healthy conditions.

“We hope that those who participated will teach their families at home not to litter,” he said.
