The first league matches of the Polokwane Central Schools Boys Football League between Eagle’s Nest Christian School and visitors Hoër Tegniese Skool Tom Naudé (Tommies) last Thursday made for great action.
Matches were played in two age groups, u.15A and u.19A. The u.19B match was not played as Tommies did not field a team.
Eagle’s Nest’s u.15A team walloped the visitors 2-0 and drew 3-3 in the u.19A division. The hosts however claimed all three points for the u.19A game as the Tom Naudé players did not have their identity documents at hand as required by the league.
Eagle’s Nest soccer coach Meshack Hlangani was proud of his players as stated that they played exceptionally well. He added that the second league matches would be against Flora Park Comprehensive High School today (Thursday) and that they are looking forward to it. He emphasised that they might compete in both the A and B competitions of the u.15 and u.19 division.
Hlangani concluded by saying the games against Tom Naudé would assist them to rectify their mistakes during training sessions and applauded players for a job well done. Trophies and medals are at stake for the winning school at the end of the league, it was reported.
