WeCan Foundation introduces computer literacy at Nare High School

"These skills will assist students in writing motivational letters for tertiary applications and assignment work, which they will have to do when they reach university."

POLOKWANE – Nare High School gr 12 learners started the second term of their academic year on high note as they introduced to a computer literacy program.

The program was voluntary and facilitated by local non profit organisation, the WeCan Foundation, run by youth in the City of Stars in their quest to help the youth equip themselves with all necessary skills and knowledge that they need to make a success of their lives.

According to Nakie Nepfumbada, the foundation’s PR, Marketing and Communications specialist, basic computer are essential for success both in the classroom and the workplace environment. “This programme will serve as a way to introduce computer skills to learners who have not been exposed to computers before. Our aim is to provide basic word and excel skills to equip matrics with necessary skills as they prepare for the next stages in their student lives,” she added. The program consisted of;

• Microsoft Word

• Microsoft Excel

• Internet Usage

• Email skills

“These skills will assist students in writing motivational letters for tertiary applications and assignment work. For students that will be going into employment after matric, these skills will help them with employment applications and CV building,” she added..

The Computer Literacy programme would not be possible without sponsor Digiata and their donation of laptops to the foundation.
