[IN TWEETS] Community outraged over teenagers getting bail for Thorisho Themane’s murder

Police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that seven teenagers have been released on R 2 000 bail each.

POLOKWANE- A turn of events in the Thorisho Themane case has the community riled up once again.

This after the teenagers arrested for his murder were granted bail after they appeared in the children’s court on 3 April. Thorisho Themane was murdered on 23 February by a group of teenagers, who were later arrested following after videos of the heinous act went viral on social media.

Police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that seven teenagers have been released on R 2 000 bail each. Bail conditions for the seven teenagers include relocating from the municipal area of Polokwane until finalisation of the matter as well as not being arrested for any other offenses that contain violence as an element. Another condition was that they not attend any of the schools they attended at the beginning of the year in the city.

With the news of the release of the teenagers on bail, the public has taken to social media to vent out their frustration at this new development:

 

Readers commenting on Review’s Facebook page were equally as angry with many saying that the justice system has failed Themane’s family.

The teenagers as well as the two adults also accused will next appear on 31 May 2019.
