JUST IN: Teenagers accused of murdering Thorisho Themane, granted bail

One of the bail conditions is that the teenagers must relocate from the municipal area of Polokwane until finalisation of the matter

POLOKWANE – The seven teenagers who are accused of killing Thorisho Themane have been granted bail in the Polokwane Children’s Court.

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed to Review that each of the seven teenagers were released on R2 000 bail. They appeared a day after two adults appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court for the same case.

Bail conditions for the seven teenagers include relocating from the municipal area of Polokwane until finalisation of the matter as well as not being arrested for any other offenses that contain violence as an element. Another condition was that they not attend any of the schools they attended at the beginning of the year in the city.

Themane was killed on 23 February, allegedly by the teenagers and his body found by a passerby in Flora Park. A 72-hour activation plan was put into action by police and five teenagers were arrested two days later. The arrests were then followed by the arrest of the sixth suspect, also a teenager the following day.

Joining the six teenagers was a 13-year-old boy who was arrested after being handed over to police by his parents.

Both cases were postponed to 31 May for further investigations to take place.
