LIMPOPO – A multi-disciplinary intelligence-led joint operation in the province has aided in eradicating crime in the province.
“These simultaneous operations apprehended 15 suspects in the Thohoyandou, Makhado, Seshego and Mahwelereng Clusters,” explained police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe in a statement released.
The suspects were arrested for various offences including business robberies, burglaries, possession of suspected stolen properties and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Items recovered during these operations included:
– 12 speakers
– Five plasma televisions
– Five music systems
– Eight music system speakers
– One video player
– One portable DVD player
– Three cellphones
– Four laptops
– One computer screen
– Two firearms
– 16 rounds of live ammunition
– Two magazines
– Two motor vehicles
– Two number plates
“In the Thohoyandou Cluster, a 26-year-old man was arrested for a series of house robberies and burglaries which he committed between 2017 and 2018. This suspect may still be linked to a number of other similar cases in the cluster and other clusters and that will be determined by ongoing police investigations,” Ngoepe explained.
Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has commended communities for supporting the police in their endeavors to fight crime.
“The arrested suspects will appear before various magistrate courts soon and police investigations in all these cases still continue,” Ngoepe concluded.
