POLOKWANE – Negotiations started in November 2018 and various parties have engaged over salary increases and improvements in conditions of service and benefits for union memebers of Nehawu and the Public Servants Association (PSA).
The demands of the workers include the following;
- A single term
- Salary Increment of 11,4%
- compensation for employees with recognised improved qualifications in the form of 1% increase as well as 10% bonus.
- Long Service Awards
- The performance bonus policy to be reviewed and finalised
- Family Responsibility Leave (FRL) we demand the introduction of a 3 year cycle.
- Pre-natal and Vaccination leave 8 working days / 16 half-days for vaccinations and pre-natal check-ups.
- They also demand that SARS reverse the withdrawal of the benefits withdrawn byemployer during the negotiations in December 2018 and for them to be reinstated.
Review also spoke to the Public Servants Association of South Africa’s provincial manager, John Teffo who said the offer they received is unacceptable and that they won’t accept anything less than 11.4%. He also added that the muti-term agreement that they were offered, binds employees to something that does not take economic changes into account.
