Some reservoir outlets to be closed to allow reservoir levels to pick up, says the muni

POLOKWANE – A number of stoppages which were experienced this week, have impacted negatively on reservoir levels in all areas. These stoppages included pipe bursts, electricity supply problems and loadshedding.

“The Olifantspoort experienced multiple bursts this week and electricity problems yesterday until early this morning. Ebenezer was loadshed a couple of times this weekend. This left some of the reservoirs at 0% by this morning, leaving most areas experiencing water shortage or low water pressure,” said the Polokwane Municipality in a statement on Sunday afternoon.

All the plants are currently in operation and the municipality together with Lepelle Northern Water are embarking on an operation to restore supply to all areas. This involves closing of some reservoir outlets for the rest of today (Sunday) in order to allow the reservoirs levels to pick up.

All areas will be affected, they say.

“Some of the lower areas may still have water and are urged to use water sparingly during this period.

The municipality will continue with water tankers in affected areas until the situation improves.
